Phase One : Plan the shoot

Step One:

Meet & Greet

Let us get to know each other! I value my clients, their dreams & visions & want to incorporate as much individual personality into each shoot, as possible. It's important to me to work with clients who value the thought, effort, & time I put into every shoot & experience as well.

Step Two:

Location Location Location

Answer these questions for yourself:

  • Is there a location that brings you joy? peace? or makes you feel alive?

  • Lean into those places & narrow them down

(Don't worry if you don't have any ideas on location I have ideas to share )

*Some locations require a photography permit to be on the premises & will result in an additional fee

Step Three:

Time of day // Lighting

Are we chasing sunsets? Rising with the sun? Wanting to play in the shadows of mid-day?  Each part of the day offers some truly unique styles & vibes that will help craft the overall essence of the images we are creating together

Step Four:

What to wear

Choose neutral-colored clothing, this helps make photos appear timeless.

Play off each other's outfits without directly matching; creating a unique look for every member of the family

  •  For a bonus find pieces that can be layered, add texture (Sweaters & Lace) or flow (dresses or skirts)

Also thinking about bringing along cute hats, sunglasses, scarfs or other personal items that can help create opportunities in a shoot

Step Five:

Posing & Prompts

More times than not clients always start out feeling a little uncomfortable in front of the camera. In my spare time, I came up with several posing prompts for any scenario. It is important to me in any shoot to be less focused on "poses" & more focused on ways to have my clients connect & interact with each other in front of me so I am able to capture the most authentic representation of who is in front of my lens.

Phase Two: Lets have some fun!

During a session, I like to play music to help set the mood, come up with little games for families to wrangle up the wild kids, ask random questions, make weird noises to catch the attention of the youngest of humans, showcase my own highly advanced dancing moves & ultimately craft a time of simple, meaningful interaction, that will be seen for generations to come.

Capturing you or your family just the way you are is an important part of your story; the one that's being written daily on your behalf, in your head & on your walls. Photos tell your story without ever saying a word. Invest in those memories.
